Orthodontic Work Montmorency

Do you want to straighten your smile? Orthodontic treatment can help to straighten crooked or misshapen teeth, close gaps and correct bite problems.
Orthodontic treatment is not just for teenagers. Adult orthodontics is now popular in Australia, thanks to advances in clear orthodontic braces and aligners making it easier for people to straighten their teeth without worrying about how they look. Orthodontics isn't just recommended for cosmetic reasons either. Crooked or misaligned teeth may also make it difficult to eat, talk or brush and floss your teeth, increasing your risk of dental problems.
If you are looking to straighten your teeth in just two visits, up to 10 days apart, compared to time in braces then orthodontics veneers might be the answer for you.
Our Orthodontics veneer procedure involves placing porcelain veneers on the teeth that need straighten.

Why is orthodontics so important?

Orthodontics can boost a person’s self-image as the teeth, jaws and lips become properly aligned, but an attractive smile is just one of the benefits.

Alleviating or preventing physical health problems is just as important

Without treatment, orthodontic problems may lead to tooth decay, gum disease, bone destruction and chewing and digestive difficulties.
A “bad bite” can contribute to speech impairments, tooth loss, chipped teeth and other dental injuries.
The purpose of the first orthodontic visit (around age 7) is to evaluate whether changes in the child’s skeletal pattern are needed. If changes are needed, we can make plans to begin treatment at the ideal time.
There are several advantages to early treatment. If detected early, harmful habits can be corrected to avoid more extensive treatment.

Is it ever too late for a person to get braces?

Most people think that orthodontic treatment is just for children. The truth is, people of all ages, including adolescents and adults receive orthodontic care for healthier teeth and gums, improved chewing from properly aligned teeth and increased confidence from aesthetically pleasing teeth The team at Montmorency Dental Clinic are able to combine orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry to achieve remarkable results for all our patients.

Different types of braces

Metal Braces/Traditional Braces – These are the metal brackets with wires that are commonly used
Ceramic Braces – These are the same size as the metal brackets but they are tooth coloured or clear so they blend in with the tooth colour. They are more expensive than the metal brackets and they can break more easily.
Invisalign – These are mouthguard like clear plastic aligners. They are removable and they are replaced approximately every two weeks. They are not suitable for patients with severe bite problems. They can be more expensive and treatment time could be longer.
